A little more about me:
I raised four children, mostly on my own. Like millions of working families, I faced daily challenges. I juggle multiple responsibilities, strive to keep my children safe, and stretch every resource to secure their future. One of my proudest moments was watching my daughter succeed in college. This proved that when families receive support, young people thrive.
I have also experienced the failures of systems meant to protect us. My son is serving a life sentence for an incident where he acted in self-defense, which was fully captured on video. We appealed, but it only revealed how justice is inaccessible without substantial money or political connections. I fought until my resources were depleted, watching the system disregard the truth as a mere inconvenience.
After the last hurricane, my community, including my own home, suffered greatly. Our insurance company denied our claims, leaving many families, including mine, to fend for themselves. This experience proved that ordinary people are left to manage on their own when institutions fail.
I am running for office because my story is not unique. Families are working harder than ever, yet the systems we depend on, courts, insurers, and public institutions, fail us when we need them most. I am advocating for a fair justice system, adequate disaster protections, support for working parents, and opportunities for young people. I’ve lived the damage bad policy creates, and I’m done tolerating it. At the state legislature, I will focus on driving solutions that put people first.
